Aero House India

India's first-ever student led self sustaining greenhouse.
Introducing the first of its kind, An oxygen surplus classroom which doubles as a self sustaining greenhouse!

"Always start with why", why the Aero House India?
Siddhant and Nandini, two motivated high schoolers, have taken on the task of building a greenhouse in response to the challenges posed by COVID-19. They recognize the importance of creating a safe and healthy environment within the school by leveraging the power of medicinal herbs and an oxygen surplus classroom.
With the airborne transmission of viruses in mind, Siddhant and Nandini have researched the properties of medicinal herbs known for their immune-boosting qualities. Their aim is to cultivate these herbs within the greenhouse, providing a natural and accessible means for students and staff to enhance their immune systems and potentially reduce the spread of viruses within the school community.
Furthermore, by designing the greenhouse as an oxygen surplus classroom, Nandini and Siddhant are addressing the need for improved air quality.
They understand that a well-ventilated and oxygen-rich environment can contribute to reducing the risk of airborne virus transmission and promote overall well-being and focus among students and teachers.
Incorporating aeroponic systems within the greenhouse is another aspect of their innovative approach. Aeroponics offers significant advantages, such as maximizing space utilization, conserving water resources, and reducing the need for pesticides. We recognize the potential of aeroponic towers to provide a sustainable and efficient method of growing plants, supporting their vision of a greenhouse that serves both medicinal and educational purposes.
By spearheading the creation of a greenhouse focused on medicinal herbs, an oxygen surplus classroom, and the benefits of aeroponics, Nandini and Siddhant are proactively addressing the challenges brought about by COVID-19. They are committed to fostering a healthier and safer school environment, empowering their peers to prioritize their well-being, and showcasing the significance of sustainability and innovative solutions at the school level. Their dedication and forward-thinking approach inspire hope and resilience in the face of adversity.
Sustainability at the core of the project.
Sustainability is at the forefront of our times due to the world's deteriorating conditions. Thus, the project pivots around the core of sustainability and making a palpable difference within our community. From furniture's material use to the vertical gardens, sustainability is at the core. The use of hydroponics and aeroponics makes Aero-house the ultimate game-changer when it comes to sustainable farming! These innovative techniques use less water and land and eliminate the need for pesticides and herbicides. With hydroponics, plants thrive in a nutrient-rich solution, reducing water waste and ensuring efficient nutrient delivery. In aeroponics, plants are suspended in a misted nutrient solution, delivering water and nutrients in a highly efficient way. The aeroponic towers reduce water consumption by 90% and fertiliser usage by 98%. With no soil involved, these techniques also reduce land use and eliminate soil degradation, making them the perfect sustainable solution for our planet, all while running on solar energy.

An interactive classroom
. A study, published on Sept. 4 in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences, shows that, even though students felt as if they learned more through traditional lectures, they actually learned more when taking part in classrooms that employed so-called active-learning strategies. Such a strategy is the aero house. The aero house helps bring the multitude of lessons covered in class to life. Now, picture this: you walk into a lush and thriving greenhouse, surrounded by the hum of activity as plants grow and flourish before your very eyes. Wouldn't this help you understand the biology sessions better? The Aero House creates an environment where learning is encouraged, an environment that allows students to explore their interests in fields such as botany and agriculture.
A fusion of flavours.
In the aero house we have brought together all of India's rich and diverse flavour at JPIS's disposal. Ranging from the red apples of Kashmir to the jackfruits of Kanyakumari! The aero house has got it covered! Aeroponics is a method of growing plants without soil. Instead, roots are suspended in the air and irrigated with a nutrient-dense mist.
Aeroponic systems use water, liquid nutrients and a soilless growing medium to quickly and efficiently grow more colorful, tastier, better smelling and incredibly nutritious produce.
Plan Of Action
Crowdfunding
Building the greenhouse
Crowdfunding is important as it allows us access to funding, building communities, validating ideas, reduce risk, market while engaging with supporters.
Development of the greenhouse, building the vertical garden , installing the aeroponic towers.
Educate students
Limitless scope.
Inculcating Aero House into academic programs, teaching students the importance of sustainability and agriculture. Business
The scope of Aero house India is not limited to an interactive greenhouse. It provides opportunities for students to build their college profiles, take part in community service and also be part of clubs which pique their interests

What are Aeroponic Towers?
Aeroponic towers are the future of sustainable agriculture! With their efficient use of water, energy, and space, they provide fresh produce that can be placed in urban areas, reducing carbon emissions from transportation, while providing fresh produce to the local community. Aeroponic towers offer a more sustainable future for agriculture and our planet.
OUR VALUES
Vision statement
Our vision is to create a vibrant and sustainable learning environment by building a greenhouse in our school. Through innovative practices and hands-on experiences, we aim to foster a deep appreciation for nature, inspire a love for sustainable agriculture, and empower students with the knowledge and skills to become responsible stewards of the environment.
Mission statement
Building a classroom, where students can explore the wonders of nature, cultivate a connection with plants, and understand the importance of sustainable practices. We will integrate greenhouse classes into the curriculum, providing students with valuable opportunities to learn about horticulture, biology, and environmental science
About Aero house.
ENDLESS OPPORTUNITIES FOR STUDENTS,
Benefits of Greenhouses for CAS and Community Service:
-
Promoting Sustainable Agriculture: Greenhouses provide an ideal environment for growing a variety of crops throughout the year, which can help promote sustainable agriculture practices by reducing reliance on imported foods and encouraging the use of locally-grown produce.
-
Environmental Stewardship: Greenhouses can be designed to minimize the use of energy and water, and can also incorporate renewable energy sources like solar panels or wind turbines, which can help promote environmental stewardship and reduce carbon footprint.
-
Community Engagement: Greenhouses can be used as a platform to engage the community in gardening and agriculture-related activities, which can help build a sense of community, increase social cohesion, and promote healthy lifestyles.
-
Educational Opportunities: Greenhouses can serve as a valuable educational tool for CAS programs, allowing students to learn about sustainable agriculture, environmental science, and nutrition, among other topics.
Activities that can be done in a Greenhouse:
-
Growing Vegetables and Herbs: Greenhouses provide an ideal environment for growing a wide range of vegetables and herbs, which can be used to support local food banks, community kitchens, or school nutrition programs.
-
Seedling Propagation: Greenhouses can be used to propagate seedlings for transplanting in outdoor gardens or for sale to the community.
-
Composting: Greenhouses can incorporate composting systems, which can help reduce waste and provide valuable nutrients for plants.
-
